Charley was born October 8th, 2004, sired by Moonfyre's Hazelnut Mocha Java (Danny). His dam is Moonfyre's Answered Prayer (DeDe). And her parents are American and International Champion J&R's Dreams on the Wind(Harley) and Shadyhill's By the Sea (Shelley). DeDe is the class clown in the group, the one who gives kisses by the tons and enjoys harassing her mother, every chance she can.. and like Mother, like Son! Charley is a lover and an imp, showing off his natural-born intelligence (thanks, mom and dad!)...to the world.

Charley stayed here in Wisconsin...where he is his mom's side kick, spreading sunshine during visits to nursing homes. His mom keeps us up to date on his progress, which includes now includes a CD (Companion Dog), Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Therapy Dog Certification and now more ribbons in his quest for a Rally Obedience title!

A recent note from Charley’s “Mom” sent May 6th, 2007:

“We had a super weekend!! Charley got his CD in three shows. I was so proud of him. We got a 180 (2nd) on Friday, a 181 (4th) on Saturday, and a 182 (3rd) this morning.
Today we were one of the 4 teams that qualified, 4 teams NQ'd.
We had a nice group of Novice A people who really supported one another through the weekend. We were all about the same level in scoring (in the 180's), except for one guy yesterday with a super doberman who outshown everyone.
So, now it is back to Rally O for his RAE. Don't think I will be trying for a CDX, but you never know!! ”

A note from Charley’s “Mom” in March, 2006

“I entered Charley in his first rally novice trial in Madison. We qualified, so now he has his first leg toward his title. I was so proud of him to be in a strange place with all those dogs and still pay attention to his mom. For the most part, anyway We lost 13 points on a do-over and and Improper completion when he decided to stand instead of sit and not do a nice finish. We had lost only two points up until then so finished with an 85/100. I was just happy to qualify this time, will work at improving our score next trial. ”

Mom writes of the CGC and Therapy Dog Certification exam:

“The lady at the table said, 'now, this is what a cocker's temperament should be'. I was so proud of Charley, She said she had two Cockers awhile back and she said they were dog aggressive and very shy with humans. Charley just laid out in the 'Cocker sprawl' while the evaluator was checking his mouth, ears and paws, with his little tail going as fast as it could.”

Charley lives here in Wisconsin...where he will make good use of that Therapy Dog Certification, on visits to nursing homes. He’s also taking part in agility and recently won 1st place over four others in the Pre-novice test for his Mom’s dog club, taking home another trophy and ribbons.

From December, 2005:

“We were in the Holiday parade today and Charley made the 9 o'clock news. The pictures are a bit grainy, but you will get the idea. We are way to the left in the group photo, and you can't miss Charley's little face in the other one. He just walked right up to the camera!! He's getting to be quite the ham! ”
